No More Smelly Hands
Why spend $20 or more dollars on a stainless steel bar that is supposed to remove the smell of garlic and onions from your hands? If you have a stainless steel sink, just rub your hands along the inside of the sink. If no stainless steel sink is available, just run your hands on a stainless faucet or wash your hands with a stainless steel teaspoon! Smart, huh?
Tomato Paste Savvy
When we open a new can of tomato paste and use just a small amount, we open the bottom of the can, discard this bottom, pop the entire can into a plastic sandwich bag, and freeze it overnight. The next day, we remove the can from the bag and run it under hot water for a few seconds, then push the block of frozen tomato past onto a cutting board. We cut the frozen block quickly into Ό inch rounds, each of which equals roughly 1 tablespoon of paste. We then put all of the rounds back into the same plastic bag and toss it into the freezer for ready-to-use portions of tomato paste. We can't tell you how many cans of dried-out (or moldy) tomato paste we threw away before we discovered this tip! Not just smart, BRILLIANT!
