SMART Ideas!

Cinco de Mayo With Less Fat!
When cooking ground beef for Tacos or other Mexican dishes for the upcoming Cinco de Mayo holiday, cover the meat with water in a saucepan, break up with a fork, or potato masher, season well with beef and chicken boullion, and garlic powder, when cooked, drain off fat and water and you've got tasty meat without all of the fat. (You won't miss the good taste of the browned meat, we promise.) We generally add a can of fat-free refried beans and use just a little of the water from the meat to moisten, then our Mexican Dishes are bean and beef ready. Smart, huh?
Super Easy Clean-up
Buy inexpensive plastic wrap and cover your counter tops with it whenever you’re cooking with messy stuff. When preparations are finished, just peal the wrap off and toss. Say good-bye to tedious clean-ups! Smart, huh?
Mushroom Slicing Like a Pro!
Use an egg slicer to slice mushrooms for fast, easy and uniform slices. How smart is this!
Bacon Brilliance
Instead of buying precooked bacon, buy 2 or 3 pounds of thick bacon and cook on a cookie sheet in the oven for 15 minutes and freeze it. It microwaves well and can be taken on camping trips for easy reheating—and you don’t have to deal with all the bacon grease over and over. Smart, huh?
