Cook’n 11 in an Exciting Partnership!

Want some DVO “inside scoop?” We’ve recently formed a lovely partnership with one the best companies on this planet, Blendtec. Blendtec and DVO will bundle their products together. Very cool idea for two exquisite products to team up.

The Blendtec website says they've blended everything from rake handles to golf balls and glow sticks in their test lab all to make sure we can experience years of trouble-free blending. But I’ll get off the marketing hype and share what I know, personally.

This is not an info-mercial and I’m getting no kickbacks. In fact, I’ve been a Vitamix user for over 25 years. We bought ours in 1989 and it’s been used every day since. I even took it with me when I traveled (the base went in my carry-on and the pitcher went in my checked luggage). On my last trip to California I was running late to get to the airport and forgot to pack it. Grrrr. (My daughter was delighted to have inherited a Vitamix).

So I needed to get another blender. I thought I’d check out the Blendtec, just for giggles. There’s plenty of unbiased blender comparisons on the Internet and a common conclusion kept popping up: There’s no difference between Vitamix and Blendtec other than design. They’re both rugged machines meant to blend and blend and blend.

Let’s talk design then, one of the key reasons I chose Blendtec over another Vitamix. The pitcher is wider at the base than that of the Vitamix and the Blendtec blades aren’t razor sharp. This makes cleaning easy. That’s a biggie for me; I have grandkids that are using the machine now, and I want them to be able to safely clean up after themselves.

Blendtec’s sales-after-the-service is another huge plus. I’d been using my machine for a week when I noticed some odd discoloration on the inside of my pitcher. I took it into their corporate/manufacturing facility (not far from me) and showed it to the gal at the corporate store. She didn’t flinch: “This isn’t good. Let’s replace it.” Just like that.

And yet another reason to love Blendtec: They have a café at their corporate headquarters, the Bistro, that’s open to the public. It’s staffed by cooking school graduates who create new recipes on a regular basis that are especially designed for the Blendtec. No stale recipe bank attached to this machine!

Back to the Blendtec website: They list 5 things that set it apart from other blenders:

1. Durable, easy clean jar. [ME: As I mentioned above, but I call it a pitcher.]

2. Uniquely blunt, safety blade. [ME: Again, as I mentioned above.]

3. Smart Touch interface. Modern touch controls enable walk-away blending. Modern touch controls look great and make everything from blending to cleanup easier than ever.

4. Hardened metal drive socket never needs to be replaced. The drive socket spins the blade, transferring the power from the motor to the blade. In a blender as powerful as Blendtec, the drive socket must be durable. No relying on breakable plastic parts to spin our blades; all Blendtec blenders feature a hardened metal drive socket. It never slips or needs to be replaced; it stands up to heavy use year after year.

5. Powerful, ultra high-speed motor that’s up for any task. Blendtec features the industry's most powerful motors, providing the same commercial strength and quality you'd find in smoothie shops or restaurants. Our motors blend the toughest ingredients, like ice, frozen fruit, and raw veggies, to a perfectly smooth consistency without skipping a beat.

Finally, I’m in Blendtec love because it lives up to its marketing blather. It does exactly what the company says it does and for less than a Vitamix. Add to all this an 8 year warranty and that it’s made in America! So if you’re in the market for a high-speed blender, take a serious look at Blendtec. Meanwhile, watch for the Cook’n 11 and Blendtec package, and check out this great YouTube video on Blendtec AVOCADO AIOLI.
