Orangy Orange Bread
Hi, I've been looking around for a recipe for "orange bread". It's been around for several years, but I haven't found a recipe that matches. Are there any orange bread recipes in "Cook'n"? So far. I haven't had any luck.
RayHi Ray, Here's a recipe I found in the DVO files. I hope you'll enjoy it! Happy Cook'n,
Orangy Orange Bread
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons orange rinds grated
- 1 cup orange juice concentrate (2 medium oranges)
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine, melted and cooled
- 1 egg
Heat oven to 350° F. Grease and flour a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan; set aside. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. In a small bowl or blender, combine orange rind, orange juice, butter or margarine and egg until well mixed. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add orange juice mixture, stirring just until all ingredients are moistened. Spoon into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour or until tests done. Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack. When cool, wrap in foil and refrigerate overnight to develop flavor. Slice and serve.
