6 Fantastical Food Combinations that you have never tried!

There are some things we eat, that we don’t think are very weird at first thought because they’re so commonplace. However, upon further thinking, they seem pretty weird. For instance, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Who would have ever thought that flavor combination would have been so tasty. There are plenty of other flavor combinations that we think are pretty weird, but actually are pretty delicious.

Ice cream and …

There are a few different ice cream toppings that are great substitute to the generic chocolate and caramel. You never would have guessed that these taste so good.

  • Vanilla ice cream and fresh cracked black pepper. Crack bit of fresh pepper on your vanilla ice cream next time for an extra kick up in flavor
  • Hot sauce and ice cream. The protein in dairy, casein, binds to the capsaicin which is the compound that makes things spicy. That means you can taste the true, fruitier flavors of the hot sauces, without the burn.
  • Vanilla ice cream, Olive oil, and sea salt. The grassiness and fruitiness of extra virgin olive oil and the delicate brininess of the sea salt flakes brings out the flavor of the vanilla and adds a wonderful, rich subtleness to the ice cream.

Cream cheese and salsa

I guess this one might not be too strange. But to make a great dip, mix some cream cheese and salsa. The creaminess and spiciness work really well together. It can be enjoyed with chips or crackers.

Hot Sauce & Cauliflower

I learned this from one of my vegan friends. Turns out it isn’t just chicken that tastes good with some hot buffalo wing sauce. Cauliflower works really well with the hot sauce. You can make a mix of cauliflower and buffalo sauce that you can enjoy with a fork, fry the cauliflower to make cauliflower wings, or even make a tasty pizza.

Avocado & Chocolate

This one might seem especially yucky, but the power of chocolate, especially dark chocolate masks the avocado flavor and the avocado adds a silky texture and richness to the chocolate. Blend in some avocado next time you’re making a mousse!

Strawberry & Basil

The freshness of the basil really compliments the sweetness of the strawberry. It is great for strawberry ice cream, strawberry jams or especially strawberry lemonade.

Peanut Butter & Bacon

This combo was made famous by the King himself, Elvis. Make a sandwich on toasted bread with peanut butter, bananas and bacon. You get creamy, sweet and salty all in one!
