Welcome Drinks 101

One of our most fun and memorable vacations was to an all inclusive resort in Mexico. We had a blast, and one of the best parts was the welcome drinks and continued mocktails throughout our trip. When we got home, my husband Scott got really good at making mint mojitos, and our love for welcome drinks and mocktails has grown from there.

We recently moved to a house with a pool in California, and the visitors are flowing! We love that everyone wants to come visit! I’m a firm believer in a strong start and finish- whether it’s greeting my kids each morning and tucking them in at night, or welcome drinks for visitors and a finale activity at the end of their stay. Starting and ending on a strong note makes for great memories, and it’s a good way for me to take an intentional approach to life. Welcome drinks are great for holiday visitors, it’s not just a summer thing!

MInt mojitos are a great, basic staple, but the options are endless! I’ve gone to Pinterest to hunt for even more and even better recipes. Here is one called the Cinderella that I found.

Cinderella

Cinderella is a refreshing drink one must try for their pool parties. It's the combination of orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice and grenadine syrup. Author: Monica Mehta Recipe Type: Beverage Total Time: PT15M

Yield: servings
Serving size: 5
Calories per serving: 170

Ingredients:
1 cup orange juice
1 cup pineapple juice
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 cup sugar syrup
200 milliliters soda water
2 teaspoons grenadine syrup (pomegranate juice or cherry juice)
cherry for garnishing
sliced lemon or orange slice to garnish
cube ice

Directions:
Mix orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice, sugar syrup and grenadine syrup along with the ice in cocktail shaker and shake well.

Then add the soda water to it and mix well.

Garnish the mocktail with cherry and sliced orange and serve chilled.

Adjust the sweetness according to taste.

The key is to use a clear, trademark glass. That really ups the welcome drink status from an everyday drinking water glass. Also, be sure you garnish the top with some of the resh ingredients you used in the drink. Cheers!
