Club Soda to the Rescue
by Alice Osborne
The holidays are gone, but not that extra 5 or 6 pounds we added while dutifully partaking of every last treat and goodie brought to our doors. So now it’s the old “gotta cut back on portions and sugars” routine. Sound familiar? Well here’s one way to eliminate a few calories and white sugar and still have a great treat once in awhile. It’s our “legal” soda pop made with club soda and fresh fruit:
"Legal" Soda Pop
Fresh fruit of choice (blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, grapes…doesn’t matter)
10 -16 oz club soda
Blend chosen fruit well; place in large glass
Slowly pour in soda and lightly stir—voila! Fruit-flavored club soda without the guilt!

And not only can club soda save you some calories, it can also save your clothes! In fact, it could be your clothes’ best friend. Be sure to keep some on hand at home.
We’ve tried all of the fancy “spotting products” and found that none worked as well as inexpensive club soda. The next time you spill something on you, immediately, leave the table and get some soda. Pour the soda on the stain. Blot it off. Let dry. Once it dries, you’ll be saying, “WOW! Club Soda is Magic!”
