Peach Dessert

1/3 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 16-ounce can peaches sliced, drained
Ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350° F. Melt margarine in an 8-inch square baking dish in the oven. Let cool slightly. Combine sugar, flour, milk, baking powder, and salt; pour into the baking dish. Arrange peaches on top and sprinkle with cinnamon; bake 40 to 45 minutes. If desired, serve with whipped cream, ice cream, or half-and-half with sugar and nutmeg to taste.
