Fresh Fruit Cup

1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup water warm
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 teaspoon orange peel grated (optional)
1 cup apples, diced
1 cup bananas, sliced
1 cup pears diced
1 cup green seedless grapes
Combine sugar and water in small saucepan. Bring to boil; remove from heat immediately. Stir in lemon and orange juice (1 teaspoon frozen orange juice concentrate may be substituted for juice) and grated rind, if used; chill. Prepare fruit. Stir into chilled syrup so all fruit is coated.
Variation
Citrus Fruit Cup: Use any combination of oranges, grapefruit, pineapple.
