Not Your Average Apple Slice

When it comes to snack time, how many of us are more tempted by the bag of potato chips or chocolate kisses that are sitting in our pantry vs. the bananas or apples that are sitting right next to them? I know I am guilty ;). Sometimes, a banana or apple just sounds too boring! Or maybe we just need to spice it up a little bit ;). Whether you’re in the mood for something salty, sweet, healthy, or dessert-ish, there’s all kinds of possibilities! Here are a few ideas to get you started.


*Chicken salad- we put apples in this all the time, why not put it on top of apples?? You’ll also be cutting out the bread carbs, so win-win!

*Marshmallow creme- because sometimes dessert wins ;)

*Caramel- basic, but for good reason!! You can never go wrong!

*Peanut butter- a great way to add protein to your already healthy snack!

*Cheese- another great protein option! You could have fun pairing different cheese flavors with a variety of apples as well!

*Toppings (M&M’s, toffee pieces, chocolate chips Butterfinger pieces)- Because if you’re already going the dessert route, why settle for mediocre? ;)

*Nutella- it’s like peanut butter, right???? Haha just kidding ;). So much tastier!

*Banana- if you want to stick with fruits but want something different, just try combining them!

*Toasted coconut- A tasty, sweet, crunchy addition! This would be heavenly! You could also pair it with Nutella or caramel for even more deliciousness!


*Chopped Nuts- What a delicious crunch this would add- I mean seriously, just think of crunching into a mouthful of apple, peanut butter, and pecan!

*Raisins- with peanut butter, what a delicious pairing! And again, a pretty healthy snack ;).

*Jelly- Another fun way to add some variety- with all the varieties of jellies, it could be fun to experiment with several different kinds! Apple Jelly, Coconut Apricot, Strawberry, etc.

*Maple and Cinnamon- A very simple way to add some flavor! This would be a great fall snack :)

*Plain Hummus- This could be a stretch, but then again, my brothers used to dip their apples in ketchup, so…. Whatever floats your boat ;).

*Greek Yogurt- Tasty and healthy! Again, think of the varieties of options! Blueberry sounds particularly divine to me ;).

*Favorite fruit dip- The possibilities are truly endless, here. Creamy Caramel, Coconut, Thin Mint, Butterfinger- there are so many cream cheese based dips out there, and any one of them would make a delicious spread for your apple slice snack!
