Unicorn Food is Magically Adorable… and Tasty!

Maybe it’s just me because 3 of my 4 children were born in July and August, but summer time feels like party time! There are so many celebrations and parties- and one of the hippest (and frankly, cutest) trends right now is all things unicorn. Basically, think of lots of pink and rainbows and glitter and sprinkles and all things girly and you’ll nail it ;). Even if you’re not on the unicorn bandwagon, you can’t deny that there are a lot of cute ways to incorporate this theme into your party food!

Seriously- how beautiful are these strawberries! They’re too cute to eat! These would definitely take a steady hand and some patience, but well worth the effort! Edible paint will also be your friend here- and you can achieve that magical shimmer with a little bit of edible pearl dust.

And speaking of pearl dust, these tasty, tiny adorable little unicorns have a little bit of pearl dust on their cheeks to give them a beautiful shimmer- though you certainly don’t need pearl dust to make some cute unicorn cake pops! Luckily kids are pretty easy to please, and you definitely wouldn’t need to go all out to make them happy ;).

I love the whole cupcake in an ice cream cone concept- it makes for a very magical dessert, and these unicorn versions are just darling! You just need a lot of icing and patience… and some varying sized frosting tips ;).

I’m pretty sure I’m getting diabetes just looking at this picture- but how magical are these unicorn “freakshakes”? While you obviously don’t want to eat these for breakfast every morning- these would be so fun for a birthday party or just a regular summer day! Blend strawberry ice cream with blueberries, and top with a sugar cone coated in white chocolate and sprinkles, cotton candy, marshmallows, donuts, sprinkles, candy pearls- whatever your sugary heart desires!

These are a little less sugar-loaded ;). Simple, but pretty! You’ll just need fondant to create all the horns and ears, and edible markers to create the eyes and color in the ears. And lots of sprinkles, of course ;).

Everyone loves donuts- and these are just cute on top of it! I also think these would be relatively simple to make- and if nothing else you’ll get some great practice using fondant!

I love chocolate covered Oreos, and these definitely wouldn’t be too hard to make! While the creator of these beautiful cookies used a special mold to keep her Oreos looking very neat, you certainly wouldn’t need them! (And frankly, I think they’d be cuter with a little less rigidity ;) ). The horn is created by piping a little bit of icing in swirls, and use icing to add the rest of the details! The ears are just little bits of fondant. So cute and probably pretty tasty too ;).

What are your thoughts on the unicorn craze? Whether you hate it or love it, you can’t deny that some of these desserts are just downright gorgeous!
