Chick-Fil-A Frosted Lemonade Copycat
Wow, I can’t believe we are coming up on a year ago that my third baby was born! She was born on August 1st, so she was my only baby that was born where I was pregnant almost the whole hot summer. As I reflect back to those joyous summer months I experienced last year, I was thinking about what got me through. What things I craved to beat that heat.
Last year Disneyland was doing a deal for all the residents in Southern California where you could get a 3 day pass for $150 (normal tickets are $110/day). We hadn’t taken our young children yet so we decided to go for it! Because of my husband’s busy job, we couldn’t find a time that we could all go together until the last week that you could use the passes.
You can probably see where this is going. As you might guess, it was busier than heck! It was filled to capacity (which is about 10,000 too many people anyway, in my opinion!) and it was dang hot! It was in the mid-90’s that day and I was uncomfortably pregnant by this time.
I’ll never forget one afternoon when we are absolutely pooped and crashed on the first shaded bench in the middle of the park that we could find. After getting my kids settled in, I glanced up and low and behold the kids on the bench right next to us were eating some Minute Maid Frozen Lemonades. Man, did they look refreshing! Those kids seemed quite happy so I marched right over and got 4 of them. And they did not disappoint! We all got a new zest for the day and headed on over to wait in a few more hour and a half lines :)
For the rest of my pregnancy I craved all things lemonade like crazy!! Regular lemonade, lemon ice-cream slushes from Sonic, and frosted lemonades from Chick-Fil-A. Not to mention I probably supplied the local kids doing lemonade stands enough business to buy their own Disneyland tickets if they wanted :) I simply could not get enough! And my husband certainly couldn’t turn me down whenever I would sweetly ask him to go get me yet another one.
This summer, things are different. I am no longer pregnant so I have to fend for myself haha. And that means making my own amazing frozen lemonades. At the end of this article is a fantastic copycat recipe for Chick-Fil-A’s frosted lemonade.
And now for some fun facts about lemonade:
We’re a little early here but August 20th is National Lemonade Day.
Lemonade can trace its origins to the Egyptians when in 500 AD lemon juice was mixed with sugar to make a beverage known as qatarmizat.
The first lemonade “soft drink” made its debut in Paris on August 20th, 1630. The drink was made from sparkling water and lemon juice sweetened with honey. (What I want to know is how in the world did sparkling water exist back in 1630?!!)
Frozen lemonade made its debut in 1840 in Naples, Italy.
The earliest documented lemonade stands were introduced by a young entrepreneur named Edward Bok who formed them in Brooklyn street cars from 1873 to 1876.
The “ade” in lemonade means that the product is not 100 percent juice.
And without further ado, here is my favorite copycat recipe for Chick-Fil-A’s Frosted Lemonade:
Chick-Fil-A Frosted Lemonade
