Why do political cartoons occasionally appear in the Cook'n Newsletter?

COMMENT:

"Dear Dan,

I would very much appreciate it you would end the practice of including political cartoons at the end of your weekly Cook'n newsletter. I think we might agree that our country is polarized enough without dividing those who are drawn together out of a love of cooking and joy of using your wonderful program for downloading, organizing, and storing recipes.

Thank you for considering this request, and best wishes for a happy and successful new year.

Rich"

DAN'S RESPONSE:

Hi Rich,

It's great to hear from you. I agree. It seems as if everything has become politicized.

For example, Major League Baseball pulled the All-Star game from Georgia over Georgia's voting law which makes me wonder...what in the world does Georgia's voting law have to do with baseball? And, I can't help but laugh at the hypocrisy because if you go to Will Call to pick up your tickets to a baseball game, the first thing they're going to do is ask to see your ID. That is what makes this meme so funny!

You can't watch a football game these days without seeing political messages painted on the field and plastered on the back of each player's helmets.

You can't watch an NBA basketball game without being bombarded with political messages.

Nike, Disney, and many other companies are unabashed in their efforts to advance a political agenda.

And, Facebook, Twitter, Google, Amazon, and many other big tech companies are censoring free speech and silencing conservatives.

It's everywhere!! So, with that being the case, I'm having a hard time understanding why the Cook'n Newsletter should be off limits.

It seems as if there is a double-standard that says it is OK for liberals to politicize everything but conservatives must restrain themselves. I don't agree.

The truth is, I'm not really happy with either party. And, I don't feel compelled to necessarily advance an agenda. But, I do feel an obligation to do what I can to try to protect America and the principles upon which this country was founded.

The amount of voter fraud in the last election, which includes ballots cast by dead people, reached a level that is a direct threat to our Republic. There's not much you nor I can do about it. But, at least we can laugh at the people who committed the fraud with a meme that says "I bet the people who voted for Biden are turning over in their graves."

The good news is that the messages in the Cook'n Newsletter that are somewhat political are always found on the very last Jest for Fun web page. Hopefully, that will make it easy to avoid for those who are not interested.

I hope this helps! Thank you so much for your valuable feedback!

Best wishes!

Dan

RICH'S RESPONSE:

Hi Dan,

In the first line of your response, it sounds like we’re on the same page. We agree our country is too politicized. However, you then proceed to give detailed reasons why you’ve decided to increase that polarization by placing politically oriented cartoons and jokes in the Cook’n newsletter.

Although we disagree on this issue, I certainly respect all that you have accomplished in producing a product that I very much enjoy using daily and have recommended to many friends and family members.

Also, thank you for pointing out that the political cartoons are always in the last Jest for Fun web page. I hadn't noticed that, but in the future, I will avoid that page.

Again, I wish you a very happy and successful new year.

Rich

DAN'S RESPONSE:

Thank you SO much, Rich.

Happy New Year!!

Dan
