5 Ways to Use Your Air Fryer More Often

Every couple of years it seems there is some new earth-shattering kitchen appliance that you simply “cannot live without”--think high-powered blenders in the 2010’s, then came Instant Pots and next came air fryers. Most of us likely all have at least one of these popular kitchen appliances. Like I have mentioned recently, I am on a really decluttering rampage around the house and let me tell you, each item has really got to bring some value to our home and family if it’s going to get a chance to stay.

I am being so bold as to really give my kitchen appliances a hard look and make sure even they, which I have spent a lot of money on, are really being used and loved and are not just taking up valuable shelf space in my small kitchen, collecting dust. I’ve got my eye on a couple items that need to prove themselves or they could be out--possibly sold or passed along to someone that could love them or use them more than I do.

I could see that my air fryer was definitely one of those appliances that I loved and used quite a lot at first, but it has lost some luster and quite honestly because it sits out in my garage, I quite often forget I even have it. It was time to dust it off and use it a lot more often!

It’s a wonderful kitchen appliance that has a very awesome superpower--the ability to make things extra crispy and delicious and taste deep fried, while not having the negative effects of being actually deep fried. I did some research to see what else I could make in my air fryer and here are 5 things I found that are awesome to make in the air fryer that you might not be doing.

1. Steak

Ribeye steak is by far my favorite thing I have ever made in my air fryer. It gets it perfectly charred and crispy on the outside, while keeping it juicy and tender on the inside. You’ll have to try it if you never have.

2. Nuts and Seeds

We all love roasted nuts and seeds and it is SO easy and so much faster to pop them in your air fryer to have the perfect snack anytime!

3. Hard Boiled Eggs

This one is the craziest to me but yes, you can absolutely cook perfect hard boiled eggs that are easy to peel in the air fryer without having to wait for the water to boil! Hallelujah! Simply preheat the air fryer to 250 degrees F, add the eggs to the basket and cook between 13 minutes (soft-boiled eggs) and 17 minutes (hard boiled eggs). After you pull them out, plunge them in an ice bath to stop them cooking and make them easier to peel.

4. ALL the Chicken!

Chicken gets a bad rap for being quite dull and boring, but no more! There are so many ways you can use your air fryer to make all sorts of different delicious chicken meals, particularly ones where the skin can get nice and crispy, like chicken wings and chicken thighs. You can also make dishes like chicken cordon bleu and even chicken parmesan! Wahoo!

5. Baked Goods

There are so many baked goods you can making with your air fryer like cookies, and even donuts. To make donuts you can simply take out a package of puff pastry and cut out donut shapes using two different sized circles. Put them in the air fryer basket and bake them at 330 degrees F for 10 minutes. After baking them, dip them in melted butter and then cinnamon and sugar for a super easy donut!
