Fun Foods For A Bluey Party!

Have you seen the children’s show Bluey? My family is OBSESSED. And I don’t just mean my kids. Sure, my kids love Bluey and my 4 year old just had a birthday with a Bluey-inspired cake and almost every present revolving around his favorite show (a new Bluey backpack, t-shirt, etc).

But surprisingly, my husband and I adore this show as well! I have literally laughed out loud and cried while watching with my kids. This show shows wholesome family relationships- it puts the family in a GOOD light! But it’s also realistic ;). My husband and I have laughed out loud at some of the episodes that have so perfectly captured the hilarity and hardship and joy that parenthood is.

One of my favorite characters in this show is actually Bluey’s dad, Bandit. He is a very realistic father figure. He teases his kids (my kids laugh because their dad has literally done all the things that Bandit does in the episode called “Teasing”), he plays with them, he comforts them, he’s there for them. He’s a fun father who also teaches his children and spends time with them. And I can’t help but feel lucky and blessed that I married a man who is a similarly good father figure to my children.

If you have children or grandchildren obsessed with this show, there are so many cute ways you can throw a Bluey-themed party, and it doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult! Here are some fun ideas!

  • The easiest thing is to incorporate blue and orange in any way you want! Blue and orange jello popcorn, blue and orange M&M’s, blue and orange cake pops, even blueberries and cheddar cheese! Blue and orange muddy buddies or “puppy chow” would be a super cute treat. You could also easily decorate any dessert with an arrangement of blue and orange sprinkles to automatically “Bluey-fy” it.

  • Serve some muffins and call them Muffin’s Muffins.

  • For a main course, make your favorite chili recipe and call it Chili’s Chili.

  • There’s so many “shout-outs” to different episodes and quotes you could do. If you’re familiar with Bluey, you’ll recognize some of these!

    • Shadowland cupcakes
    • Make the duck cake! The great thing about this is it’s supposed to look ugly, so you don’t have to stress making it perfect!
    • Serve a bowl of “fruit bat fruit”
    • A platter of “cheese and crackers”
    • Gummy worms labeled as “bum worms”
    • Jelly beans labeled as “I slipped on ma beans!” (You could also use this for a savory dish like baked beans or a refried bean dip)
    • Any bread recipe could be “Bingo’s Fairy Bread”, but the easiest thing to do would be to serve buttered white toast with rainbow sprinkles on top!
    • Spring rolls and fortune cookies from the episodes “Takeaway”

Really, with a little creativity, you could make anything work! And Bluey is worth the effort, in my opinion ;).
