Fun Games That All Involve Food!
Food is obviously a critical part of life- you can’t survive without it. But I think most of us also enjoy food, and it’s a huge part of life! So much so that did you know there are many games that revolve around food? Some are for younger kids, but many are for older kids and adults as well! You might be thinking ahead for Christmas, or maybe you just want a fun new game for the cooler weather. Here’s a list of fun games for a variety of ages that are based on food!
Pop the Pig. My kids have always adored this game. You roll the dice, feed the giant pig the corresponding colored hamburger, and then based on the number beneath the hamburger, you push down the pig’s chef hat 1 to 4 times. The pig’s tummy gets bigger each time, and at some point he “pops”- makes a loud pop sound and his belt comes off! This is the perfect game for little ones, and it definitely causes some laughs!
Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza. This game is ridiculously hard and yet so fun. You have to say “Taco”, “Cat”, “Goat”, “Cheese” “Pizza” in that order, regardless of what card shows up. If someone happens to lay down the corresponding card with the correct noun, then everyone tries to slap it! There are also silly cards like gorilla, narwhal and groundhog that require you to do a simple action before slapping the pile. It’s actually a super fun game!
Sushi Go. This is another game that is a family favorite. You’re trying to get the most points by collecting certain cards. Maybe it’s laying down miso soup, collecting dumplings, or gathering green tea cards! The illustrations are super cute and it’s another game we all love!
Bananagrams. One of my personal favorites! It’s just a banana shaped bag filled with letter tiles, but it’s great for so many things! My sister and I will sometimes pull it out, split all the tiles in half and just try to use all our tiles creating a little crossword. We are able to think and chat at the same time, so it’s a fun, casual way to spend time together. I’ve used it with my kids for reviewing spelling words or just to get them familiar with words under the guise of a “game”. Definitely a good one to get!
Avocado Smash. This is a cute game we were gifted a couple years ago. It’s basically like slap jack- you’re slapping matching numbers as well as the cards that say “smash!”. The variation is there is also a card called “guacamole”, and you have to yell guacamole before slapping it. And of course, the game comes in an adorable avocado-shaped case.
Candy Land. Of course this classic is on here! Another great one for littles. Just draw a card and move your piece to the corresponding color. But of course, you have a few fun ones too- like Princess Lolly, Lord Licorice, and Gramma Nut!
Throw Throw Burrito. I’ve never played this game, but from my understanding- you are literally throwing burritos at each other. Ok, not literal burritos, but cute little squishy (non-edible) burritos. I know there is more to the game, but the idea of throwing burritos at people just makes me laugh! My 11 year old son had a blast playing it with other kids his age.
These are just a few games! There’s so many other ones to look into- Yeti in My Spaghetti, Cover Your Crumbl, Tacocat Spelled Backwards, Taco vs. Burrito, Hi Ho Cherry-O, Gonuts for Donuts, and Greedy Granny (in which you are literally trying to take treats off Grandma’s lap while she’s “asleep”!)
Which of these games seems most intriguing to you?
