Let pinto beans soak overnight.
Change the water. Cover the beans with water without salt and let cook until tender.
In a frying pan heat cooking oil, bacon, garlic, onion, salt.
When golden, remove 1 cup beans with juice from the large pan and with a wooden spoon mash the beans (or you could beat it in a blender). This is used to thicken the mixture. Add to the frying pan mixture.
Add this mixture to the large pan of beans and serve hot over a bed of Brazilian Rice.
NOTE: Serve this with a small beef steak, and a simple tossed salad of lettuce and tomatoes seasoned with vinegar and oil.
