In a small mixer bowl at high speed, beat butter until fluffy. Gradually beat in brown sugar, then honey and ground spices until well blended. Makes 2 cups.
To make one serving, place 1/4 cup mixture in a warm 10-ounce mug pour in 1/2 cup boiling water, stirring to dissolve mixture. Add 3 tablespoons rum and fill with additional boiling water stir. Add optional whole cloves (three or four per serving) or a sprinkling of nutmeg. Stir with a cinnamon stick. Cover and chill any unused butter mixture up to one month.
