In a large bowl, stir cake or cookie crumbs, nuts, coconut, butter or margarine and sweetened condensed milk until well blended. Evenly press into a plastic or foil-lined 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan set aside.
In a small saucepan over low heat, stir chips until melted and smooth (watch carefully). Spread evenly over crumb mixture. Chill at least 1 hour or until chips are set.
With a sharp knife, cut into bars. Store loosely covered at room temperature.
