In a small heavy saucepan, stir together corn syrup and sugar. Over medium heat, bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat set aside.
In a small mixer bowl at medium speed, beat egg whites and salt until soft peaks form. Slowly beat in corn syrup mixture. Add vanilla and one drop of food color at a time until desired color. Increase speed to high and beat for 6 to 8 minutes or until stiff peaks form.
To keep the frosting from drying out, immediately cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.
