Preheat oven to 425° F. In a medium saucepan mix water and butter or margarine. Bring to a boil. Stir in flour and salt. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture leaves the sides of the pan and forms a stiff ball. Remove from heat.
Beat in eggs, one at a time, and beat until smooth and glossy. Drop heaping teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven cut slits in sides of puffs. Return to oven for 3 to 5 minutes to dry out centers cool.
