Spreading Some Sunshine!

It may be cliche, but it’s true- it’s more fun to give than it is to receive. With things being a little different this year, I wanted to do an extra something special for a couple women in my neighborhood. Moms have had it hard this year, and I wanted these 2 moms to know that they are loved and appreciated. I put together little “bags of sunshine” and delivered them on their doorsteps for Mother’s Day.

This was such an easy thing to do. And every one just needs a little pick-me-up sometimes, you know? Not just on Mother’s Day! If you know someone that could use a little pick-me-up, why not deliver some “sunshine”?

Here’s what I put in my bags:
  • Lemon pudding
  • Popcorn (look at those pretty yellow bags!)
  • Juicy Fruit gum
  • Peanut M&M’s
  • Mr. Goodbar

I also topped them off with yellow tissue paper, a yellow card, and yellow ribbon. A box or bag of sunshine is super easy to put together- just grab whatever yellow things you have on hand!

Some other yellow things you could put in a box of sunshine:

  • Burt’s Bees chapstick, lotion or makeup remover wipes
  • Lay’s Classic potato chips
  • Rold Gold pretzels
  • Yellow peppers or squash
  • Lemonheads
  • A spa mask with yellow packaging
  • Milk Duds
  • Swedish Fish
  • Charleston Chews
  • Twix
  • Werther’s Originals
  • A bag of Starbursts
  • Lemonade
  • Honey
  • A yellow scrunchie or hair tie
  • A yellow notebook
  • Lemon Bar mix
  • Homemade lemon bars
  • Loaf of lemon bread
  • Lemon Jello
  • Honey cough drops
  • A box of yellow cereal- Honey Grahams, Cheerios, Captain Crunch, etc
  • Yellow roses or daisies
  • Larabar Lemon bars
  • Yellow bath bombs
  • Golden Oreos
  • Vanilla Wafers
  • Keebler Sandies
  • Lorna Doones
  • Crayola crayons
You could use a gift bag, a yellow tin, or simply wrap everything up in cellophane. This can be as simple or crazy as you want to make it! My bags were quite simple, but think of how epic a package you could create using everything in the above list? Whatever you’re able to do- I guarantee you’ll put a smile on someone’s face when you deliver a little bit of “sunshine”.

What else could you put in a box of “sunshine”? I’d love to hear your ideas!
