Break vermicelli (or spaghetti) into 1 1/2-inch lengths and cook according to package instructions. Drain rinse with cold water drain thoroughly. In glass jar, combine vegetable oil, vinegar, fresh basil (or use 1 teaspoon dried basil, crushed), salt, mustard, sugar, paprika, and garlic salt. Shake thoroughly (makes 3/4 cup). Combine with cooked pasta and remaining ingredients toss lightly. Cover chill until time to serve.
