Start with the basic recipe of a toasted large marshmallow and a piece of your favorite chocolate bar (splurge on the good stuff) sandwiched between two graham cracker halves-then experiment. Make a tray with the following ingredients for a self-serve "S'mores Bar" everyone will love.
Viennese S'mores:
Substitute cinnamon-sugar graham crackers for plain ones.
S'mores à la Menthe:
Slip a freshly picked mint leaf or two under the chocolate.
S'mores Italiano:
A fresh basil leaf under the chocolate adds an interesting twist.
S'mores à Go-Go:
For a real adventure, try adding a fresh nasturtium blossom for a sweet, peppery kick to the chocolate!
Euro-S'mores:
For a rich torte flavor, spread one cracker with jam: raspberry, peach, apricot-even orange marmalade.
Tin Roof S'Mores:
Spread crunchy peanut butter on one cracker.
Mocha S'Mores:
Add a pinch of your favorite instant coffee powder to the chocolate bar just before adding the hot marshmallow. Make it a grande!
German Chocolate S'Mores:
Sprinkle sweetened coconut flakes over the chocolate.
Snap-Crackle-S'mores:
Roll the hot marshmallow in Rice Krispies® before you add it to the sandwich.
Uptown S'mores:
Top the chocolate with strips of candied orange or lemon.
Santa S'Mores:
Roll the hot marshmallow in crushed peppermint candies.
