A TOASTY TREAT
Enjoy toasted bread? Now you can expand that homey taste to other recipes calling for grains. Before cooking in cereals or casseroles, toast the grains golden brown. Simply heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add no fat. Toss in oats, wheat, rice, barley, etc. Watch and stir to heat and brown evenly. Be careful not to let the grains darken too much; you're after just a nice golden tint. You'll be able to smell the aroma of the toasted product. Once browned, continue with your recipe as directed. You'll experience quite a new flavor sensation--toasty, nutty, warmth in every bite.
