In the book It's Here Somewhere by Alice Fulton and Pauline Hatch, some advice to live by is given:

If you don't like it
use it
need it
want it
or have room for it
it needs to go
it's not a keeper.

I dare say that a good 98% of us are holding on to items that we will truly never use. Things that are only good at taking up space. My folly is a glass tulip bowl that I was given at my wedding. Its size and shape is much too awkward to be functional, and it is much to gaudy to even be considered lovely. So why am I holding on to it? I don't know. Simplify, simplify, simplify. Getting rid of unneeded things, in your kitchen as well as the rest of the house, will give you space for what is really important… preparing meals in a kitchen were you can breath. Create space for creating meals.
