Computerizing Your Own Cookbooks
I heard an interesting idea from a Cook'n user a while ago. Since then, I've heard of several other people who are doing the same thing and I thought it was pretty clever. Perhaps you would like to hear it...
Most Cook'n users love to collect recipes. Some Cook'n users have a whole kitchen full of cookbooks. Typing all of those recipes into Cook'n is going to take time but they want to take advantage of the benefits of the Cook'n Software right away.
So, they're doing it in two steps. Step 1 is to create a recipe in Cook'n for every recipe in their cookbooks. But, to save time they are just typing in the name of the recipe and then they put the cookbook that it came from and the page number in the Description field.
That way, when they want a certain recipe but can't remember where to find it, they can use Cook'n to search the database and tell them where to find it in their cookbook collection.
Step 2 is to go through and add the complete recipe. By following these two steps, they can benefit from Cook'n right away even though they haven't finished entering all of their recipes.
I thought that was a pretty good idea.
If you have any short-cuts, please share them!
Have a great day!
