Try This Recipe from TikTok for Pumpkin Pie Spice Syrup

I am not one who is huge for TikTok, probably one of the rare Millenials who isn’t. Typically my only involvement in it is if my friend sends me a link for a funny dog or cat one or if I am following a video for instructions for a sewing pattern. Call me old school but I prefer my sewing instructions in a full-length, in-depth YouTube tutorial lol. Or heck, I’ll even take just some simple paper pattern instructions from a Simplicity pattern envelope that we are probably all familiar with, if you were born before the year 1990 and had Home-Ec class in school. (Can you see yet that mentally I am far more like a Baby Boomer than a Millennial or Gen-Z’er. It’s a real struggle :) I prefer most things the old school way--keep things simple, people!)

However, like virtually any human, I can be drawn into a simple bite-sized, catchy video, especially when I see beautiful, drizzly thick pumpkin spice syrup. My friend sent me a link to watch this video of a woman making pumpkin spice syrup right at home. I know people go crazy for the lattes this time of year, but in the time you wait in the line at Starbucks, you can whip up this syrup at home and have lattes for days, anytime you want and of course at a fraction of the cost. Not to mention a lot of these pumpkin spice drinks, shakes and lattes taste pretty artificial to me, so you can make your own with regular ingredients (including real pumpkin!), so I promise you, it’s going to taste better as well!

It is really easy to make your own pumpkin spice syrup--you are simply bringing a few ingredients to a boil (brown sugar, water, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla)  and then simmer it until your syrup is nice and thick to your likeness. This recipe I have for you today is a little bit tweaked from the original to give you greater success in the thickness of the syrup, reducing the water from 1 ½ cups to 1 cup of water.

Here Are a Few Ways to Use Pumpkin Spice Syrup:

  • Stir it into your tea or coffee with cream
  • Make smoothies or protein shakes
  • Make pumpkin spice milkshakes with bits of Toffee, whipped cream and caramel on top
  • Add to top your waffles or pancakes. Don’t forget the whipped cream with caramel drizzled on top of these too! Go big or go home, right? :)
  • You can even try adding it to cocktails--there are plenty of recipes out there on the internet for that. Fall cocktails, here we come!
  • Try making a beautiful fall salad with roasted squash and add pumpkin spice syrup into a dijon/mayo salad dressing.

Do you go nuts over pumpkin lattes this time of year like a lot of people do? Have you tried making them at home before? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.
