Now that I'm mostly done, I feel like shouting
"bring on the holidays! Let's have some fun!"
The other point to consider is that since more people are shopping on the Internet these days and we need to start earlier to allow time for shipping & handling.
It also seems like when you start early, you can plan ahead and take the time to find the lowest price for the thing that you want. Finally, in an effort to be more cost efficient, many retailers & e-tailers are employing the "just-in-time" inventory management system which often turns out to be an "almost-in-time" or a "not-quite-in-time" type of a system.
I haven't really noticed or minded the earlier start to Christmas this year. On the other hand, to the extent that this "early start" takes away from Thanksgiving, it is a bad thing. What do you think? Please share your thoughts. I love to read your comments.
