A Little Music Quiz With Dinner
A Focus On The Family
by Patty Liston
With all of the activity that centers on this time of year, we may often find ourselves…shall we say, just a bit preoccupied. Be honest; how many of you have arrived at your destination, pulled into a parking space, and have no earthly idea how you got from Point A to Point B. Your mind zigzagged from one random thought to the other while you were driving. Do I need more gift wrap? Ham or turkey for Christmas? Is the line at the post office longer in the morning or the afternoon? Do I have enough gas to get to the store AND pick up the kids at school?
Wouldn’t it be nice to be a child again when your only thought was, “I hope I get (fill in the blank), for Christmas!”
Instead of thinking about all you need to do, and to get your child’s mind off of his wish list, play this little game during dinner.
Write down the names of the following Christmas carols on a piece of paper. According to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, which song is the most performed during this season? Which is the second most performed? Put them in order from 1 to 10. Your family may not be familiar with the titles, but if you sing a few bars (okay, hum if you must), chances are they will recognize the tune.
No, we will not give you the list in order. You try to figure it out first, and then you can peek at the answers.
