Give-Aways

I have spent the last 2 hours reading your newsletter and wonderful recipes. I have already printed a whole bunch I want to try. I love them because they are using ingredients one has on hand. I love that and just wanted you to know how much we appreciate all your hard work in putting together this newsletter. Thank you very much.

Bisquick Substitution

HI! Dan,

I’ve had BC software for about a month and love it!!! As I use one of my recipes, I enter it into the software – works great!

I have a question though… bisquick is used in many of the BC recipes and I don’t always have it on hand – what can I substitute?

Appreciate your help!

Lorie

Hi Lorie,

Here's two recipes to make your own Bisquick:

Regular Bisquick:
9 c. flour
1/3 c. baking powder
1 1/2 c. dry milk
1 tbsp. salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 c. sugar
2 c. shortening
Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Store mix in an airtight container at room temperature. Use as you would Bisquick.Mix dry ingredients, then cut in shortening. Makes 13 cups. Store at room temperature. Use instead of store bought Bisquick mix.

Healthy Bisquick:
4 c. whole wheat flour
1 1/2 c. soy flour
2 c. powdered milk
1/2 c. nutritional yeast
1/4 c. sugar
3 tbsp. baking powder
4 tsp. salt
2 c. wheat germ
Mix and refrigerate. Use in recipes calling for Bisquick

Enjoy,
