From the feedback we’ve gotten throughout the year, it seems the #1 time-saving kitchen tip for 2009 is whipping/mixing in a paper bag. For any of you who may not know what we’re talking about here, this is the concept:
Place a large paper grocery bag in your sink. Place your mixing bowl with contents to be whipped or mixed (i.e. whipping cream, puddings, cake mixes, gravies, etc.) inside the bag. With your hand mixer, reach into bag and whip or mix away.
Why bother whipping or mixing this way? Because the splatters are contained to the inside of the mixing bag — no more wiping down the backsplash, underside of the upper cupboard, nearby appliances, and so on. This little habit saves a LOT of clean-up time!
I’m sure, that with the depth and breadth of experience we have in our Cook’n Club, there are a boatload of time-saving tips we could share with each other. So besides becoming better and funner (probably not a word, huh?) cooks in 2010, let’s become more efficient.
Let’s spread the knowledge... if YOU have any time-saving kitchen tips, would you send them our way? We’re all in this together, remember!
