Desserts to Die for:
Sheet Cake Sugar Cookies
By Sydney Hill
These seem simple and may sound "blah", but if you try them you will be in awe. For a sugar cookie, it's chewy and packed with flavor. You can top it with canned frosting, but it is about 15 times better with the frosting recipe below. If you like the flavor of butter, these recipes are for you!
Sheet Cake Sugar Cookie
(this picture shows more how I like it. Slightly undercooked, really dense and chewy)
Ingredients:1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
5 cups flour
Directions:
Recipe formatted with the Cook'n Recipe Software from DVO Enterprises.
This frosting will make more than you need for the cookie. Since frosting stores so well, save it for cupcakes or cookies, or just 3/4 the recipe.
Amazing Frosting
Ingredients:
1 cup high quality (high resolution) shortening (You can use Crisco, but high resolution is best)
1 cup butter, softened not melted
1/4 cup water
salt (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (if making white frosting, you might want to do clear vanilla if you don't want to discolor it.)
1 teaspoon butter extract
1/8 teaspoon to 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
2 pounds powdered sugar
