The Super-Simple Trick to Cook Pasta So Much Faster

Craving spaghetti and meatballs? When it comes to making the classic comfort food, you know the drill...or do you? Forget everything you thought you knew about making spaghetti!!

Typically, the process starts with waiting (and waiting) for a pot of water to boil, then putting in the pasta and waiting (and waiting) for it to cook. Finally, there's a helpful hack that will save you some time behind the stove.

Instead of boiling the water first, plop dry pasta into an empty pot. Then, let cold water run over it. (Tap water is OK.) Lastly, put the pot back on the stove, and cook as you normally would, just with a lot less waiting.

This trick will save energy (since your burner's not burning for as long), use less water (because cold water works without having to fill the pot the standard 2/3 of the way up) and cut cooking time basically in half (though the time varies depending on the pasta's thickness). Some celebrity chefs even swear by it!

Try this cooking method next time so you can have that plate of mouthwatering macaroni much sooner. Bon appetit!
