So, I know right now is the season we’re all trying to cut back on our sugar intake and eat healthier, but I just couldn’t resist showing these incredible cupcakes! I randomly came across a picture of one, and immediately wanted to know more!

Have you heard of Hi Hat Cupcakes?

They are beautiful cupcakes. I’m a little intimidated to make them myself, but I know my tastebuds are going to get the better of me and I’m going to give it a shot sooner than later ;). These cupcakes are basically your average, delicious cupcake- but with an incredibly high layer of a thick, marshmallow meringue frosting, and dipped in a chocolate shell (basically homemade Magic Shell!). Yeah…. I’m definitely going to need me some of these.

And of course, you have to see the inside ;)

Most recipes I found just used a basic, devil’s food chocolate cupcake. But luckily there are creative geniuses who live among us and showed us even more delicious possibilities. One idea is to add a graham cracker layer at the base of the cupcake, and once they are baked, poke a small hole in the center and fill it with raspberry jam- then add your marshmallow meringue frosting and chocolate sauce…..it sounds HEAVENLY. You can also switch up the batter and make raspberry or strawberry cupcakes instead of chocolate. You could even switch up the meringue frosting and create a strawberry or peanut butter flavor!

And the fun doesn’t stop there- while many people stick with your basic chocolate hi hat cupcake and leave it there (I mean, it’s not like they need anything else- they’re beautiful!), you can add some extra decorations to really have fun with these!
