You Have to Try These New Items at Trader Joes

I think I’ve jumped on the Trader Joe’s bandwagon so hard that I believe they can do no wrong. I’m quite sure there hasn’t been anything there I have ever tried I haven’t really liked.

They seem to knock it out of the ballpark on almost everything. That is why it is exciting when they come up with new items! Here are a few of the yummiest new items for 2017 they have.

Coffee Flavored EVERYTHING

I just have to get this out of the way first of all. For some reason they are on a real coffee flavored kick with new items and there are about a million new coffee items, some of which sound pretty strange to me. Here are a few.

  • Mocha crunch cremes
  • coffee glazed almonds
  • brownie crisp coffee ice cream sandwiches
  • mudd pie that has coffee ice cream
  • cold brew latte dessert bars
  • coffee toffee shortbread cookies
  • coffee flour
  • heck, they even have a coffee flavored beer
  • And worst of all, there is actually a cheese with espresso throughout it. I am not really interested in trying this one at all, but a lot of people claim the flavors work together really well. Thanks, but no thanks!

Onion Salt ($2)

This new Onion Salt is the new secret ingredient you'll want to have stocked in your spice cabinet. It's a super savory blend of granulated onion, granulated garlic, minced onion, kosher salt, green onion, and dried chives, and the flavor profile is dynamite. Sprinkle it on pizza, season chicken with it, or toss it on roasted vegetables.

Carrot Spirals ($3)

These Italian-grown carrot spirals come pre-steamed to al dente and are seasoned with sea salt, so all you have to do is reheat them in a pan with a little olive oil. They could be great used instead of pasta, or even just as a fun and different way to eat carrots as a side dish.

Everything but the Bagel Seasoning Blend ($2)

The delicious blend of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and sea salt flakes elevates your favorite dishes with a powerhouse of flavors. If the everything bagel is your favorite bagel, then this needs to be on your spice rack!

Honey Walnut Shrimp ($7)

Their mandarin chicken is one of my very favorite Trader Joe’s things ever so I was all about trying another of my favorite Chinese food entrées. This dish takes less than five minutes and one pan to make and the shrimp comes out crispy and sweet, tossed with the sauce and walnuts. Serve with the Trader Joe's Organic Brown Rice and a side of vegetables, and you'll have dinner on the table in 10 minutes.

Puff Dogs ($6)

Trader Joe's has completely reinvented one of your favorite childhood snacks, pigs in a blanket, with its puff-pastry-wrapped hot dogs, appropriately called Puff Dogs. Each beefy, uncured hot dog is wrapped tightly in a buttery, flaky puff pastry that gets golden brown and crispy in the oven at 400°F. There's absolutely nothing bad about these, and they're a great appetizer to serve a crowd at a summer cookout.

Sweet Corn, Burrata, and Basil Ravioli ($3)

The new sweet corn, burrata, and basil ravioli from Trader Joe's screams summer. The filling has a combination of soft ricotta cheese and creamy burrata, and each bite offers a pop of fresh, sweet corn and an earthy taste of basil. The flavors work perfectly together, and this convenient eight-ounce package allows you to enjoy a fresh summer dinner without any effort. Top the ravioli with basil pesto or olive oil or butter, and serve it with your favorite summer side dish.

Birthday Cake Bar ($1)

The new Trader Joe's Birthday Cake Bar is perfect for any occasion, like, you know, a Monday. The white chocolate bar has cookie crumbs and colorful sprinkles inside, so each bite is bursting with goodness.

Joe-Joe's Truffles ($4)

Longtime fans of Trader Joe's are no stranger to the original Joe-Joe's: the chocolate cookies that taste just like Oreos. Well, the good news is they finally turned the cookies into truffles that taste just like no-bake Oreo truffles. Each bite-size truffle is made with crumbled cookies and white chocolate and is dipped in dark chocolate and topped with pastel sprinkles.

Caramel Ginger Popcorn ($3)

A subtle kick of ginger takes standard caramel popcorn up a notch, and Trader Joe's caramel ginger popcorn is a dangerously addictive snack. Sweet and salty, each piece of popcorn is coated in enough of a ginger flavor that your taste buds notice, but it's not overpowering whatsoever.

Have you tried any of these things from TJ’s yet? Or what sounds the most fun to try? Did anything on this list peak your interest?
