November Takes the Cake for these Food Holidays
Occasionally I like to check out all the food holidays for the current month. November really might take the cake for all of the months. Just look at some of these fun and random holidays coming up this month:
Nov. 3--National Sandwich Day. Got to be my husband’s favorite celebration of the year. He LOVES sandwiches!
Nov. 5--National Doughnut Day. Doughnuts are probably my favorite treat of all so I can’t wait to head over to Donut Man in Glendora, California and grab my favorite raspberry filled!
Nov. 9--Cook Something Bold and Pungent Day.
Nov. 6--National Nachos Day. I mean, who doesn't love a good plate of nachos? I can get on board with celebrating that!
Nov. 14--National Guacamole Day. There is nothing better than tableside guac. Nothing!
Nov. 24--November Sardines Day. This one makes me laugh because this date is usually right around Thanksgiving and after a delicious meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, just about the last thing I would possibly be thinking about would be eating a can of sardines. To be fair, sardines are probably the last thing on my radar at any given moment :)
Nov. 25--National “Eat with a Friend” Day. What a fantastic idea for a holiday!
Now, the one that was so cool and unique that I had to dedicate this whole article to it is….drum roll, please………..NOVEMBER 12: NATIONAL PIZZA WITH EVERYTHING ON IT (EXCEPT ANCHOVIES)
There is this amazing pizza place about two minutes from my house. They have some truly unique combinations of pizzas that I wanted to share so you could recreate these ideas at home. Don’t worry--none of them have anchovies.
Pastrami Pizza. In the sandwich world, it doesn’t get much better than a classic pastrami sandwich with pickles and mustard. Yummo. So when you take those flavors and put it on a pizza with mozzarella--perfection!
Gyro Pizza. Another amazing pizza at this place is their Gyro pizza. Traditional gyros use lamb meat, but our pizza place uses sliced seasoned beef, roma tomatoes, red sliced onions, feta cheese, mozzarella cheese, and you can dip it in fresh, cool Tzatziki sauce. It has so many amazing flavors.
What is your favorite combination pizza? Do you stick with the traditional combination pizzas or do venture out to try new interesting combinations? Please share in the comments below.
