The Many Faces of Pizza
Pizza is a staple, but one that gets overused sometimes! Parties, birthdays, celebrations, sometimes it just seems that pizza is the way to go- but it’s nice to have some variety! Luckily, pizza is so easy to change up!
Different crusts.
A fun way to change things up is by changing up the pizza crust! While regular ol’ pizza crust is definitely a hit, try one of these variations instead!
French bread- this makes for a crispier crust, but it’s a fun way to serve individual pizzas! My kids love to put their own toppings on when we do it this way.
Tortillas- this is one of my go-to easy meals for my kids. I just put a little sauce, shredded cheese and pepperoni on the tortilla and bake it. So fast, and my kids love it!
Naan- these make the perfect chewy texture for crust! They’re also small enough that you can do little individual servings, perfect for a filling and fun lunch!
Pita bread- a little different than naan, but similar for those looking for some healthier crust options!
Cauliflower crust- Not as quick and easy as some of these other options, but definitely a great way to go if you’re trying to eat fewer carbs and consume more veggies!
Different sauces
I personally am not a fan of marinara sauce. Some are definitely better than others, but I definitely prefer other sauces! Some tasty options are alfredo, BBQ, pesto, or olive oil. But depending on what toppings you want to use, you could even use other sauces like enchilada sauce, maple syrup, or even ketchup!

And speaking of toppings, these are really what help create a unique pizza! Even if you use the same sauce and crust, you can have so many different variations of pizza simply by switching up the toppings!
Herbs can add so much fun flavor! Parsley, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, dill, basil- all of these are beautiful garnishes but also so tasty!
Veggies are always great to have from a health aspect, but they are also tasty! Peppers are a given, but what about thinly sliced potatoes? Spinach or carmelized onions are another great way to go. You can literally add anything! Have fun experimenting with different vegetable toppings.
Proteins can definitely add flavor! Pepperoni is the standard, but how about ground beef on a taco pizza, or shredded chicken on a pesto pizza? Canadian bacon, Italian sausage, breakfast sausage, crumbled bacon, steak, etc. You can also change up the cheeses! Mozzarella is amazing obviously, but experiment with different kinds! Cheddar, provolone, havarti, swiss, even ricotta!
Different dipping sauces
You can also change up your pizza simply by dipping it in a variety of sauces. Ranch is a go-to for many, but balsamic is another super tasty option! Especially if you try a variety of flavors, like I mentioned in my balsamic vinegar article. Garlic butter is another easy and delicious way to flavor your pizza!
Some pizza ideas: breakfast pizza, taco pizza, veggie pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, even dessert pizza! Pick a theme and run with it! There’s no limit to all the fun things you can do with the pizza concept!
