These Playful Muddy Buddies Are Perfect For Summer!
Everything just seems like a party in the summertime, am I right? I love fully embracing it. Painting my girl’s nails in neon summery colors, wearing bright, flowery dresses, having fresh flowers around the house, letting kids stay up late, planning all the activities, and of course- a plethora of fun, colorful food!
Berry salads, pineapple burgers, red, white and blue ice creams- I love how colorful everything is in the summertime! And I have a fun and tasty way to add some color to one of my favorite treats!
Muddy buddies (or puppy chow, as we called it when I was growing up), are one of my favorite treats. They are addictingly tasty, but they’re also so easy to put together! They make a great movie snack, party food, or just a fun afternoon treat for the littles!
But they can be a little bland in color. While the classic recipe is hard to top, I’ve definitely found some variations that are favorites for this white chocolate-lovin’ girl!
Frosted animal cookies are another one of my favorite childhood treats, and so putting these two favorites together makes perfect sense to me! And just look at how cute and fun the colors are! The cookies themselves add a playful pink, but the addition of rainbow nonpareils makes this a fun, colorful treat perfect for summer, parties, or any time you want a little more color in life!
They are also super tasty. I love white chocolate, and the addition of the frosted animal cookies makes this a highly addicting and delicious treat! And just like with any other muddy buddy recipe, they are tasty anytime, but they are truly show-stopping when straight from the freezer ;).
The original recipe I found called for only a ½ cup of powdered sugar, but I always add more! I like to make sure that each Chex gets nice and coated.
9 cups Chex cereal (14 oz. box)
2 (10-ounce) packages white candy melts
1 (13-ounce) bag Frosted Animal cookies
1/4 cup rainbow nonpareil sprinkles
1/2 cup powdered sugar
