Places to Eat Near The Grand Canyon
One of our more recent National Parks that we visited is the Grand Canyon! We spent some time on the North Rim, and then traveled down to take in the South Rim. Both sides are beautiful, but if you can only do one, I definitely recommend the South Rim! I’m sure we’ve all seen pictures and video- but I’m telling you, they do NOT do it justice. The Grand Canyon is definitely something everyone needs to see in person at some point in their life. So incredibly massive and beautiful!
After a day of sightseeing and hiking, sometimes a big meal just hits the spot- especially when you’re not the one cleaning up afterwards! We ate at a couple different places while staying just outside Tusayan, AZ- just a few miles from the entrance to the National Park.
We ate at two different restaurants, and both are ones we would visit again!
The first was Plaza Bonita. I LOVE Mexican food, and so maybe I just hadn’t had some for a long while, but both my husband and I really enjoyed this place! We tried the nachos, a chimichanga, flan, an apple chimichanga/empanada, and al castor tacos (pork). Everything was delicious! Pardon the less-than-Instagram-worthy pictures- we were hungry and started digging right in!
I wouldn’t say it was the BEST Mexican I’ve ever had, but it was definitely really good! The service was great too. Our ice waters were constantly refilled (which was so nice in 100 degree weather!), they were so accommodating to bring extra plates and sauce and provided a wonderful experience all around!
The other place we tried was We Cook Pizza and Pasta. The name is definitely not creative- but descriptive of what they make! We ordered a few different pizzas for our family to try:
A basic pepperoni and pineapple pizza
A chicken bacon artichoke pizza,
A shrimp and scallion pizza with white sauce
And a bacon cheeseburger pizza.
We ordered a kid’s dish of spaghetti with toast for my daughter who’s trying to eat dairy-free.
We also tried an order of their house wings, since apparently they are “world famous”.
I don’t know if they are actually world famous (I mean, they do get a lot of visitors from around the world with the Grand Canyon right there!), but the wings were definitely tasty! If you are familiar with Frank’s Red Hot Sauce, it definitely tasted similar, with maybe a little sweeter taste. They were fabulous!
One other place we tried is the Creamery by the IMAX theater. The ice cream was definitely nothing special, however it’s a nice way to cool down when it’s so hot outside! But it’s definitely nothing to write home about. I think next time I’d save money and just get a frosty at the Wendy’s down the street ;).
It’s been fun to travel and see so many beautiful places, and to taste some delicious food in the process!
