Since my son Andan and my son Carson are serving as full-time missionaries right now, this video of two missionaries giving a homeless man a hug and consoling him really struck a chord with me. I love to see them doing as Jesus would do. This video was actually taken in Guatemala where Carson is serving right now!

That video reminds me of the following story that Carson shared...

"We were walking to eat lunch with a member and there was a blind man trying to cross the street. He had a big stick and was swinging it around to try not and get hit. So I asked if he wanted help. As I reached over to help him he death gripped my arm. So we started walking him home. But he seemed to be in a lot of pain and was moving at turtle speeds. And we were already late for our lunch. The other elders in our area passed by around this time and were walking with us. Being the 4 eagle scouts that we are we came up with a solution. We made a seat out of our arms and instructed him to sit down into our arms. As one of us held his back to stable him. I was very impressed with the trust of this dude. He couldn't see a thing and trusted us. As he was sitting he kept saying I'm gonna fall!! But we told him we were right there for him. We carried him all the way home to his shack and made it to lunch."

He shared the following similar experience several months later.

On our way to the church we were walking with some recent convert kids when we passed by brother Luis on his way to church. Brother Luis suffered a stroke and hasn't been to church for years. We visited with him and encouraged him to come to church. Due to the stroke, the left side of his body is paralyzed so he moves very slowly. He had woken up at 3am to get ready and walk. We were about 5 minutes away from church for us but about an hour and a half for him and the meeting started in 5 minutes! I thought "he's not going to make it!" So being the boy scout that I am I asked him if we could carry him with that fireman carry. He said "yes that would be great." So me and my comp got ready and the recent convert went behind to support his back. Now in the middle of this act of charity when I dropped into the squat to pick him up, I heard a loud splitting sound that echoed through the street. To my horror I had ripped my pants from belt to zipper and down each thigh. I mean this was a bigger split than when Moses parted the red sea! My cheeks were just out there for the world to see. So I tied my suit coat around my waist and carried him to church and got there on time. I sat through sacrament free flowin. We ran home during the break, changed, and made it back just in time."
