The Cook’n Elves and I have been busy tinkering away in the workshop, making Cook’n even better for you! And thanks to your feedback, we’ve just added a magical new feature that will make finding your favorite recipes easier than ever!

One of our awesome Cook’n users, Bert Gough, reached out with a great suggestion. He told us that searching for an exact phrase—like “apple pie”—was tricky on his iPhone because Cook’n would pull up every recipe with “apple” or “pie,” making it harder to find exactly what he was looking for.

That was a fantastic observation—so the Cook’n Elves jumped right on it!

Introducing Exact Phrase Search!

We heard you! Now, finding the perfect recipe in Cook’n is faster and easier than ever. Introducing our new Exact Phrase Search feature!


To see this feature in action, follow these steps:

1. Launch Cook'n on your mobile device
2. Tap the My Recipes button on the bottom navigation bar
3. Tap in the search bar at the top of the screen
4. Enter: apple pie ...and then tap the 'search' button

Notice that the search results include LOTS of recipes that are NOT apple pie recipes. These search results show recipes that have the word "apple" and the word "pie" in them.

Now, to see this new, exact match feature in action, simply take this one additional step:

1. Tap the "Exact Match" button at the top of the screen

Notice that the search results are now reduced to only the recipes that have the complete word "apple pie" in them.

Here is a screen recording that demonstrates this feature in action:


As you can see, initially, the search results showed recipes like "1-2-3 Chicken Broth" because that recipe calls for "3 tbs apple cider vinegar" which includes the term "apple" AND "3 lb chicken pieces with bones" which includes the term "pie."

But, when "Exact Match" was selected, only recipes with the exact phrase "apple pie" were displayed.

With this new feature, finding the exact recipe you are looking for is easier than ever!

Bert, your feedback was spot on! Because of your great suggestion, all Cook’n users can now enjoy this new search feature. So keep those ideas coming—we’re always listening!

Try it now! Open Cook’n on your phone, type “chicken soup”, tap the "Exact Match" button and see the magic happen. 😊
