Typical & delicious. Second variation (see Sweet Milk, Desserts chapter).
Cook milk in a heavy sauce pan over very low heat adding sugar to dissolve. Stir frequently to avoid scorching.
Cook on very low heat top of the stove about 60-90 minutes until it is thick and yellow and reduces by 2/3. Add grated coconut.
Continue cooking to a firm ball stage. Cool and beat. If necessary, you could add 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar. Cool and cut into squares. Or drop by spoonful and let cool.
VARIATION: instead of coconut, you could add 1 cup nuts. It is also delicious without anything added!
