SUCCESS TIP
If your bread machine has a 2-pound vertical pan, the loaf will be short, but still will have good texture and flavor. If your bread machine has a horizontal pan, however, there isn't enough dough to make a good loaf of baked bread.
SUCCESS TIP
Surprised to see baking soda in yeast bread? Baking soda works beautifully in this recipe because there are two mildly acidic ingredients-buttermilk and honey. The results give you pleasant-tasting bread.
Sandwich Board
Here's a tasty Olive Walnut Spread to serve with this bread. Mix a 3-ounce package of softened cream cheese with 2 tablespoons milk until it is smooth and creamy, Stir in ½ cup finely chopped walnuts and ¼ cup finely chopped pimiento-stuffed olives. This makes about 1 cup of spread, so cover and refrigerate any leftovers.
