Preheat oven to 450°. In a medium bowl, mix flour and salt. With a pastry blender or two knives, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle water over the top and toss with a fork until uniformly moistened. Press dough firmly into a ball. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8 -inch thickness. Fit loosely into a 9- or 10-inch pie plate. Trim 1/2 inch beyond rim of pie plate. Fold edge under and flute. Pierce bottom and sides of pastry thoroughly with a fork. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool pie crust before filling.
