Thinly slice fruit and discard pits. Turn into a large saucepan with optional sugar and bring mixture to boil over low heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Boil 3 minutes. Pour mixture into blender or food processor purée. The purée may be strained to remove bits of skin, but is more nutritious with skins left in mixture.
