Preheat oven to 250°. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Spread nuts in pan and place in oven while making syrup.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter or margarine. Stir in corn syrup and sugar. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil. Boil without stirring for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla.
Pour syrup over nuts stir to coat. Bake, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour or until nuts and syrup are golden brown. Spread on greased foil to cool break into pieces. Store in an airtight container in a cool place.
