In a small bowl, combine yeast and very warm water, 110 to 115 degrees; let stand for several minutes. In a separate large bowl, pour boiling water over shortening and sugar. Add yeast mixture, cold water, salt, egg and flour. Mix and knead until smooth. Cover and place in refrigerator overnight. Form into golfball-size balls and place in a greased 13"x9" baking pan. Cover; let rise until double. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 18 minutes, until golden.
