Noteworthy Popcorn Cake

Makes: 10-12 Servings

18 cups popped popcorn
1 1/2 cups gumdrops
1 cup whole peanuts or cashews
1 (10.5 ounce) package miniature marshmallows
1/2 cup butter or margarine

Grease a 10-inch tube or bundt pan or line with foil and then grease. In a large bowl, toss the popcorn with the gumdrops and peanuts or cashews. In a saucepan, melt the marshmallows and butter until smooth. Pour over the popcorn mixture and mix to coat. Butter your hands and then press the mixture into the prepared pan. Cool completely and then remove from the pan. Slice to serve.

Variation: For a peanut-butter and chocolate cake, melt 1/2 cup peanut butter with the margarine and marshmallows. Instead of gumdrops, use chocolate chips or chocolate candies.
