Cut flour and salt into shortening. Beat egg yolks and add milk to make 2/3 cup. Mix well and add to flour mixture. Roll 1/2 of the dough between 2 sheets of waxed paper to fit a jellyroll pan. Crush cornflakes and spread on dough. Add apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Roll the rest of the dough for top. Beat egg whites and brush on top. Bake at 350° for 50–60 minutes. Frost with powdered sugar icing.
